Overview
The EB-5 Immigrant Investor Visa was created by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS, an agency of the US Department of Homeland Security), as a way for foreign nationals to obtain permanent residence (Green Card). Foreign nationals are required to invest Five hundred thousand dollars (qualifying investment) in a project in a Targeted Employment Area in the United States. The project should create a minimum of 10 full time jobs for United States citizens
The Investor should meet the following criteria:
- Be in good health (no communicable diseases or serious mental disorder)
- Must not have a criminal record or negative background of any kind
- Must have evidence of a qualifying financial background for at least the last five years
- Must have the financial capacity to participate
- Must not have any disqualifying U.S. immigration background
The US Investment Visa
The EB-5 Immigrant Investor Visa attracts foreign capital into the US and creates jobs for American workers

- Other countries have similar residency by investment programs, but EB-5 is the cheapest
- Each investment includes sponsorship of spouse and dependent children under the age of 21
- Investors need not take on an active managerial role in the project in which they invest
Investor Advantages
It allows a person and his or her immediate family to obtain a Green Card (live permanently in the US) by investing in an enterprise that creates jobs for qualifying US workers. The minimum amount of money to invest is $900,000 if you invest in a rural or high unemployment area.
For foreign investors seeking the freedom and flexibility to live and work in the US, the EB-5 Visa Program provides an excellent opportunity to obtain Green Cards.
The EB-5 investment visa route to a Green Card avoids the usual requirement of having family connections, securing a job, or running an actively traded business – making it a viable route to retirement.
FASTER PATH TO GREEN CARD
Other visa categories such as H1B have more than 50 year processing time based on country of origin, but EB-5 offers a much faster path.
NO SPONSOR NEEDED
Foreign investors use their own personal funds and do not require sponsorship from either an employer or a family member.
GREEN CARD
The EB-5 Visa provides investors with a Green Card thereby allowing foreign investors to live and work in the United States in any capacity.
What Is A Regional Center?
An EB-5 Regional Center is an organization designated by the United State Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) that sponsors capital investment projects for investment by EB-5 investors. The major advantage for regional center designation is that the regional center can take advantage of indirect job creation. Regional centers help EB-5 investors and project developers because they lessen the difficulty of meeting qualifying job creation requirements under the EB-5 program rules.
- The investor is not required to live in the place of investment; rather, the investor can live anywhere in the U.S
- The EB-5 Investment Regional Center program is ideal for the retiree or inactive investor
- The Regional Center Program removes the direct employee requirement and replaces it with a less restrictive "indirect employment creation," which allows the investor to qualify by proving a combination of 10 direct, indirect, and/or induced jobs
